Social goes out of hours - officially

Our phone helpline has always been a key way for people to contact us for information on meningitis and the services Meningitis Now offers. Over the last three years we've seen a change in the way people contact us, with social media becoming ever more important.

We've spent a lot of time growing and nurturing Facebook and Twitter platforms and recently we've introduced out of hours cover: 6pm until 10pm week days and weekend checks. Before this it was more casual checking and not recorded. We are spending between 6 to 16 hours responding during out of hours every week.

This is a huge shift in how people are 'connecting' with us. I've heard that larger companies, councils and charities have moved to a shift pattern for night work. 9 to 5 is dead.
